A cleansing ceremony using turmeric and oil and rosemary or thyme sprigs. This
ceremony was more or less private for those who happened to be
present. (Slide 1)
Hehendi (Henna): Anyone who desired it could get henna designs
applied to their hands and arms. Three Mehendiwaalas (men who
applied the henna) were available for this art work. (Slides 2 - 5)
Dancing: That evening, drummers, a singer, and a disc jocky were
there to provide music for dancing. Liquid refreshment and food
were available. The crowd was moderate in size. (Slides 6 - 19)
Except for the cleansing and applying henna, all activities were held
outdoors in a highly decorated area that was revised each day.
It will be obvious that I didn't take many of the pictures. My thanks to
Reem and others for their helpfulness.
